31 Weeks

It seems like the time has both flown past and dragged it's heels!  Today/Tomorrow I am 31 weeks, meaning 9 weeks to go till the due date, I still have the crazy feeling this baby will decide to come at 38/39 weeks but who knows!

We had our monthly ultrasound on Monday, and LO weighed in at 3lbs and 12oz, and was measuring +2 days, so fingers crossed he stays on this path.  No pictures from the ultrasound, baby had both arms over his face and appeared to be sleeping through the whole scan.  He did seem to have some hair though, we could see it pure white and floating in the fluid, that made me smile - I wonder how much he will have when he is born!

DH finished building the nursery furniture, so now I need to start organising and decorating, I feel like my energy has been totally zapped though.  I get a burst for about 45 minutes, then I feel exhausted for the next couple of hours, I am hoping it's temporary and after 34 weeks I'll feel more energy again.

Right now I am reading "Happiest Baby on the Block", and "Ina Mays Guide to Breastfeeding", both seem pretty decent, next on the list is "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and "the mother of all baby books" (Canadian version) - I was feeling a little overwhelmed that in 10 weeks max we will actually have to be responsible, so I figure the books will help me overcome a little anxiety.

Birthing classes start on May 1st, I was 50/50 on whether or not to take them, but I guess it's better to do so, than not.  I'm quite an easy going person, so I think it will be nice to see what they have to say, and then take what comes as it comes.

I've noticed a lot of people have written birth plans, and they look pretty detailed, I seem to be a bit more laid back (or perhaps just not educated enough yet).  In my head my birth plan basically is; have healthy baby - hopefully without drugs/intervention and to breastfeed.  I know I want to have the vaccinations staggered, I also want to read up about them in the Canadian book to ensure I know what is required.

  1. Isn't it bizarre how time has passed? I feel like I've been pregnant forever and also can't believe how quickly it's gone and we're getting so close. It's amazing.

I've been reading lots, too. I'm hoping it will help me feel more prepared. Before that I was starting to feel like these little babies were just going to show up and I had NO idea what to do with them!

Yay for having the furniture built and getting going on decorating. We're not there, yet. The furniture is here, though. Just stuck in the living room...

  2. Happy 31weeks. :) I didn't take any birthing classes or have a birth plan and all is working out well here. Will you post pics of the nursery? Can't wait to see!

  3. Hi - I just found your blog and see htat we have very similar TTC histories :) Good luck with getting the nursery ready. I've been reading alot of different books as well. My new favorite is "Bringing up Bebe" - it's observations on French parenting by an American mom living abroad. I am finding it very insightful. So different from the last book I ready "Beyond the Sling" by the actress who played Blossom who practices attachment parenting.
